OK, I get GTA: San Andreas, and I start modding (changing it to my preferences), and plan to fire up the game. It starts loading, and then it shows "Disc Could not be Found or Authenticated" or something like that, and I just BOUGHT the game today. My computer I"m running it is:
=Unknown DVD ROM disc speed
=48x CD-ROM speed
=200 GB of data
=128MB of Video RAM (nVIDIA 5200)
=512MB RAM
This is pissing me off. Any advice?
EDIT: I got this at GameStop, and I"m trying to get this straightened out. If my mother would upgrade both PC"s for once, that"d be two birds with one stone.

The LurkerAuthorPosted June 8, 2005Not to double post, but I think a DVD-ROM drive upgrade would be nice to see. Any good places to buy one? Since I put it in the DVD-writer drive, it worked fine. But how it doesn"t run after install is beyond me.Bạn đang xem: ''no disc inserted'' or ''original disk could not be found or authenticated''
Advice would be appreciated, and I got that PC last May.

Player HaterPosted June 8, 2005 If you can wait while it ships www.newegg.com is the hands down best place online to buy hardware both in terms of prices & customer service.

I had a Acer 16X DVD-ROM that wouldn"t run the install software even after a firmware upgrade. Replaced with a cheapo Artec (what"s with all these similar brandnames

) and worked like a charm.
Sucks that I had to replace an otherwise good drive with another just for 1 game... but that"s the way the cookie crumbles. Now I gotta paint the faceplate too so it matches...
So first try upgrading your drives drivers and/or firmware. If it still doesn"t work try a new one from www.newegg.com. You can always RMA it if there"s still issues.

I had the same problem, but I managed to fix it.
Try running Windows in Safe Mode. (Keep hitting F8 while restarting untill the menu comes up.) If the game gets past the disk check in safe mode, then you might have the same reason for the problem as I was having. I had some software running that prevented the authentication from going through. Not sure what it was. I just took out everything that didn"t look right in the boot list using msconfig, and the game started up just fine after a reboot.
Note: In my case, the game did not run in Safe Mode, because it could not recognize the audio card. You might be able to run SA from Safe Mode, depending on your hardware.

The way i run it is, go to my computer, than whatever drive the CD is in, click on it, and a popup should come on saying run gta san andreas and links and stuff. Now instead of clicking run san andreas, go to browse dvd contents. Now something should pop up, and click on install demoshield multi cd launch, and it opens. Thats how I fixed it.

SnitchPosted June 8, 2005Man this sucks, I"m getting this error too. It says it can"t authicate the disc in a time limit. Is there anyway you can turn off this authication? I want to play the damn game!

Player HaterPosted June 8, 2005Same thing here too. All of my req"s are fine (I am using an 8x drive though), and all my drivers are updated. Tried in Safe Mode also. Along with any other help shown here prior to my post date.

As games become larger and have to be pressed on to DVD"s, I hope problems like this become less. Recently bought a game from a different publisher and developer on DVD and had limited problems. First one I"ve owned on DVD actually besides this one. Quite frustrating. Rockstar"s games have always been pretty much trouble free for me.
I hope there is a patch soon.
I guess a good question to ask would be how many people are using 8x drives like myself, and are having problems authenticating?
Thanks for any help.

The LurkerAuthorPosted June 9, 2005 Jus download the no-cd patch.... I hate to say this, but I"m not going to be a warezer. And No-CD patches are forbidden here, and I"m getting the DVD-writer/CD-writer drive removed by this weekend or so, but that"s just me.
